UMI JIGOKU (SEA HELL)So called because it resembles the sea, this 200 meter deep, cobalt-blue pond of boiling water emerged 1200 years ago after a volcanic explosion. The manicured gardens are simply magnificient. And from May to November you can marvel at the gigantic " Victoria Amazonica " lotus flowers grown in hot spring waters. |

KAMADO JIGOKU (COOKING POT HELL)I am standing on an enormous cooking pot. I am the mascot of this hot spring site, temptingly divided into six unique, pots of murky, bobbling, " thunping " boiling water. |

CHINOIKE JIGOKU (BLOOD POND HELL)This is the oldinst natural "Jigoku" in Japan! At first site the blood red pond awakens a shudder. Fear not. This awesome pond takes its formidable color from red clay that dessolves in the natural, boiling hot spring waters. |
